Born and raised in Norway, Ray grew up surrounded by stories told by his grandmother, great-grandmother, and his father. The stories were often steeped in fairytale myths of trolls, hags, and gnomes, often set in the ancient Norwegian woods where he played as a boy, and haunting tales of ghostly encounters. This, perhaps more than anything else, gave him a love and attraction for stories and storytelling, and so, when he was twelve, Ray decided to become a writer. After some years of pursuing music (he still considers himself a drummer when the mood strikes), he turned his attention to writing and never looked away.
Ray now lives in Adelaide, Australia, with his wife and daughter, where he writes stories for kids, young adults, and adults, ranging from fantasy to horror.
